44 : Laughing till dazed
Zhang Jingxiao's voice fell, and the people sitting beside her were slightly startled, but they were so engrossed in their conversation that they didn't notice Song Shi's unusual behavior.
Only Chen Zhoumu kept observing her emotions. Normally, she wouldn't be interested in what they were saying, but today she not only participated but also put down her pen.
Zhang Su? Who is that? No, it should be said, what exactly happened in Yangcheng?
The next day, all the students going to the Yangcheng competition class gathered at the school gate. Because they would be away for three months, the two planned to entrust their older brother to He Xi.
The other person followed them to the dorm last night to pick up the cat. After taking the older brother from them, he exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, you've taken such good care of him! He's gotten quite fat."
Chen Zhoumu leaned lazily against the doorframe, handing him the packed belongings: "He's quite well-behaved, just eats a lot. Don't you have those other cats at home? He'll have some company."
He Xi shook his head, holding the cat: "No, my cats are all very fierce. I'll take care of this one myself; the others are with my mom."
"Okay, that's good. Thank you for your help while we were away. By the way, the older brother isn't in very good health. We have to get up every morning to check on him. He doesn't meow much, so you wouldn't know if he's really unwell."
"Okay."
"He's also a picky eater. Here are his usual treats and cat food. I bought this brand; he won't eat anything else."
"Okay." He Xi looked at the things in his hand; it was indeed the Rolls Royce of cat food.
"It likes to sleep with people, don't refuse it. Anyway, it won't make a sound at night since it's lying next to you..."
"Okay, okay, okay! Message me if you need anything else. School's about to close, I'm leaving now."
When He Xi got home, he saw a long list of instructions from the other party.
M: [Don't hit it, don't scold it, you must feed it when it's hungry, I'll reimburse it if it chews something up.]
[It needs a balanced diet, if possible, feed it a sweet potato every day, try to turn on the warm light at night...]
He Xi saw this endless list of instructions, then turned to look at the cat lying on the chair. Had he gotten himself into trouble by raising a little tyrant?
Xi Xi: [Okay, stop sending messages. If you didn't know, I'd be raising your child. Are you made of gold, brother?]
M: [That's all I can think of for now, I'll tell you when I think of something else. It's more like a child than a child.]
M: [Take good care of it, I'll buy you the Switch you wanted when you get back.]
Xi Xi: [Okay, deal, from now on that cat is my ancestor.] A few people stood at the school gate in the morning
. Since it wasn't the weekend, He Xi and the others hadn't come to see anyone off. The students at the gate were those who had ranked in the top twenty in the last joint exam.
But there was one person who wasn't.
Song Shi didn't really recognize the other students from Class One. When he and Chen Zhoumu were at the school gate with their luggage, Tan Qi happened to arrive.
The three of them had met and chatted before, but they weren't very familiar with each other, so a nod was enough for them to greet each other.
Then another familiar face broke the silence. Zhang Jingxiao was carrying a bag; her luggage had already been taken to Yangcheng.
The others thought she was there to see someone off, but the next second she stood next to Tan Qi: "I really feel like I'm going to die. The thought of being isolated from the world for three months is driving me crazy."
Chen Zhoumu heard the voice and looked to the side: "Why are you here?"
"Aren't you in class today?" Tan Qi looked at her.
Zhang Jingxiao gasped for breath: "Because the sponsor is from the Zhang family, and someone from No. 1 Middle School wasn't going this time, my dad squeezed me in too. What's that called? A nepotism case!"
Chen Zhoumu smacked her forehead: "Your dad wants you to learn more. Your dad's position is for you, right?"
"Ouch!" Zhang Jingxiao covered her forehead and leaned against the person next to her, her voice tinged with sadness as if she were thinking of something: "Who knows?"
"Forget it, don't mention him. Thinking about how I went to the South not for tourism but for study almost made me cry." Zhang Jingxiao covered her face and leaned on Tan Qi's shoulder.
The other person reached out and patted her head: "It's okay, you still have me...us."
"By the way, do you know who didn't come this time?" Zhang Jingxiao glanced casually at Song Shi: "Shen Yihan."
"That's right, it seems he hasn't come back to school since he left last time."
Chen Zhoumu turned his head to look at the person looking down at their phone, then leaned closer and asked: "Do you know what's going on with those two?"
He was asking about Shen Yihan and Tang Ze.
Song Shi put his phone away and shook his head. "I don't know much about their relationship. Tang Ze rarely mentions it to me, but I do know that Shen Yihan is a member of the Shen family."
Chen Zhoumu listened thoughtfully. In fact, he felt he had seen Shen Yihan before when he first met her, and later learned that she was the heir of the Shen family.
He didn't know what her purpose was in coming to Xia City, but for the Shen family, letting her come to such a far place was already very lenient.
Children from prominent families in Beijing are monitored for their every move unless they give up their status.
So the Shen family must know about Tang Ze's existence. Although the Tang family is well-known in the south, they are not as prominent in Beijing. A few years ago, the Shen family and the Qi family tried to tie their children together.
However, neither side was willing. One went to Hong Kong, and the other's whereabouts were unknown. It seems that the one whose whereabouts were unknown was Shen Yihan.
Now that the Shen family has finally found her, how could they let her cause trouble?
But as far as he knew, the current head of the Shen family was very young and was Shen Yihan's brother. This head of the family was quite indulgent towards her.
Before they could think much, the teacher leading the group got off the bus: "The journey is quite long this time, so we've arranged for everyone to fly there. It's a chartered plane; we'll head straight to the airport. Get in the car."
"Wow, the sponsors this time are really rich."
"Indeed, to be honest, this is my first time flying, and I'm a little nervous."
"And this is my first time going to the South! Who would have thought I'd be going there to study?"
Students from several schools met at the airport. Song Shi hadn't brought much; he knew Yangcheng like the back of his hand, and it wasn't very cold there yet.
If he really needed warm clothes, he'd just get them from home, so he only brought a small suitcase. The group was seated together.
To be honest, Chen Zhoumu was quite excited, not because he was going to the competition class, but because he was going to Yangcheng, the place Song Shi had lived for so long.
He wanted to see what life was like for him, to see the scenery he had seen, and to learn about everything he had experienced.
Turning her head to look at the person with their eyes closed, she asked, "Little friend, after you get off the plane, would you like to take me to Guangzhou for a stroll?"
Although Song Shi had her eyes closed, she wasn't asleep. She didn't open her eyes after hearing the voice, nor did she care about the other person's strange way of addressing her. "There's nothing to see."
"No way! I'd take you anywhere!"
Hearing this, Song Shi opened his eyes and suddenly laughed, "Do you know what Yangcheng lacks most right now, Chen Zhoumu?"
The other man shook his head. Song Shi suddenly moved closer to Chen Zhoumu, who was sitting next to him. Before he could react, his pupils dilated and met Song Shi's gaze.
He felt something strange on his chin, but he didn't dare move because Song Shi was pinching his chin, turning his face to the left and then to the right.
Chen Zhoumu's breath caught in his throat. He didn't know what the other man wanted to do, but he complied. His eyes followed the other man's movements involuntarily, his throat bobbing slightly, his voice barely audible, just drowned out by the sound of an airplane.
In his dazed state, he heard the other man's teasing voice: "What we lack most are men with good looks and strong bodies. Do you know what we're going to do with them?"
He couldn't hear anything else now, smelling the same scent emanating from the other man, and then shook his head.
The other person leaned closer, their breath brushing against his ear as they whispered, "Take me to be a gigolo, to serve men."
Chen Zhoumu felt a surge of heat in his ear, but the other person had already left; he seemed not to have heard a word they said.
Song Shi, seeing the stunned man, smiled and retreated, leaning back in his chair. He must be frightened; after all, the other person probably wouldn't be exposed to such things.
Men serving men, homosexuality—whether forced or voluntary, perhaps the other person couldn't accept it.
Chen Zhoumu snapped out of his daze. Although he hadn't heard much of the other person's words, he understood. Turning his head, he saw the other person smiling happily, like a kitten that had just stolen freeze-dried meat.
"Just keep smiling like this."
Song Shi paused, turning to look at the other person: "Hmm?"
"I said just keep smiling, be happier, smile more."
This time, Chen Zhoumu leaned closer, staring at him: "Wherever you take me, as long as it's you, I don't mind."
Now it was Song Shi's turn to be bewildered. (
