54 : Too cute

Before he could even stand up and get closer, someone stepped in front of him, blocking his view.

Zhang Huabang could only see the woman who had suddenly appeared through the part of her body that wasn't obstructed. She didn't look very young, but she was extremely beautiful.

She hadn't said a word since entering, but her aura was incredibly powerful, making people afraid to speak. The people she brought were all different.

He had never seen anything like this before, so he mustered his courage and continued to ask, "May I ask, may I ask which esteemed person has graced this place with their presence?"

The person not far away was casually sitting on the sofa. The stronger man beside her unscrewed the thermos cup in his arms and handed it to him. No one spoke throughout the entire process, and Zhang Huabang could only stand there, not daring to say anything more.

After the person finished drinking the water, she slowly turned her gaze towards him. Zhang Huabang met her eyes, and his body trembled violently.

He had thought that her temperament and appearance were so familiar. So it was her. But wasn't she rumored to have passed away?

He bowed again, his fake smile never fading since the other person entered: "So, it's you."

The other person wasn't surprised he recognized her; if none of the previous heirs had seen her face, she'd have lived in vain.

She gestured to the man standing not far away to hand him what she was holding. The man nodded and walked towards the bowing man.

"Two choices: submit to the Zhang family, or disappear from Yangcheng forever," the man said, handing over the item.

Zhang Huabang tremblingly took the item. He had a feeling that the other person had disappeared from everyone's sight for so long, their abilities and influence had diminished considerably.

If they united with those in Yangcheng with whom he had relatively close ties, it seemed there was still a chance of victory. If they could bring down this person, the Zhang family might rise to a higher level.

Perhaps they could even return to the capital?

But when he saw what he held in his hand, it was like a bucket of cold water had extinguished his boiling blood; Zhang Huabang felt utterly cold from head to toe.

He held the thin sheets of paper in trembling hands. The contents were more comprehensive than those brought by the Chen family, even including details of his extensive network of connections.

The papers also contained information on the Shen family, complete data, and even some things he didn't know.

He slowly looked up from those papers, his pupils trembling violently. He stared at the monstrous figure not far away. How did this person know all this?

Yes, this person seemed omniscient. Whatever the matter, if this person wanted to investigate, they could find it.

This was why, back then, the Zhang family, alone, stood at the top of the pyramid, yet no one dared to provoke them—simply out of fear of the person in power at that time.

Zhang Huabang had actually forgotten what kind of person that was: vengeful and ruthless.

When news of his death spread, some rejoiced, some grieved, but most were just spectators. Everyone knew that without Zhang Shu, the Zhang family was nothing.

The empty shell welcomed its new owner, a man from a humble background who had risen from poverty. Sure enough, the Zhang family quickly disintegrated, now reduced to a place where everyone could bully them.

Recently, Song's Hospital, formerly known as Zhang Family Medical, has been embroiled in numerous scandals, and its position is now precarious.

This hospital was originally a sum of money given by the then-head of the Zhang family to her useless husband as compensation. It certainly enriched many people when the Zhang family fell from power.

However, the Zhang family is no longer as powerful as it once was; it's at its end, and a comeback is impossible.

But if Zhang Shu were to reappear, there might be a 60% chance.

This 60% doesn't include luck; if she's lucky, the probability would be even higher.

Zhang Huabang chose the former without hesitation. He even wanted to laugh. Any normal person would choose to attach themselves to the Zhang family. As long as its leader returned, everything would be fine.

Even a tiny bit of something from them could propel an insignificant family to great heights in the capital.

Such a wonderful thing was something no one dared to dream of back then.

Zhang Huabang suddenly knelt on the ground: "I attach myself! I attach myself to the Zhang family!" His voice sounded like a shout.

Half a minute later, he remained kneeling on the ground, too afraid to get up. The person in front of him didn't speak either. As his knees began to slowly go numb, he saw out of the corner of his eye that the person in front of him slowly moved to the sides

, clearing a path for him.

The sound of high heels on the ground began to echo, casting a shadow in front of him. A chilling voice slammed into his ear: "Don't mess with people you shouldn't mess with."

The person at his feet trembled like a leaf, barely daring to breathe. Even though the opposing side hadn't shown him the information, Zhang Huabang believed that the person in front of him could bring down the Zhang family.

Chen Zhoumu returned home close to midnight. Dealing with this matter had taken him almost three hours. He really didn't want these trivial matters to waste his time with Song Shi; it was incredibly frustrating.

Ever since seeing Song Shi's reaction when Zhang Jingxiao mentioned the Zhang family's affairs in Xia City, he had secretly sent people to investigate.

Fortunately, they had uncovered some useful information, which had come in handy today.

He turned off the lights when he left the dormitory. When he returned and quietly opened the door, it was dark inside. He gently closed the door again, keeping the chill outside out. It was

indeed a bit chilly in Yangcheng at night; the temperature difference was widening. He had just casually thrown on a long-sleeved shirt before leaving, and he was still feeling the chill when he returned.

Looking at the person already asleep, he thought for a moment and decided to take a hot shower first. Unlike here, Xia Cheng No. 1 High School didn't have water or power outages or sudden circuit breaker trips.

After showering and feeling warmer, he cautiously crawled into bed. It wasn't a bunk bed, but a single bed like the ones at home.

He slowly lifted a corner of the blanket, and seeing that the person lying on the bed wasn't moving, he tucked his whole body in. This time, sharing a bed was different from his previous dormitory at No. 1 High School.

Back then, they were just classmates and roommates, but now the person sleeping next to him was her boyfriend.

Yes, boyfriend. Just thinking of those three words filled Chen Zhoumu with a sweet warmth.

He felt the constant heat emanating from the person lying beside him, a ticklish sensation stirring within him. He gently turned and carefully placed his hand on the other's waist.

He moved a few times, then paused, and seeing no reaction, he slowly began to grow.

He pulled the other into his arms, then slowly moved closer, pressing his back against the other's, filling the space between them.

Their heat gently collided, both radiating the same scent. Now, tightly covered by a blanket, curled up on the same bed, they slept in each other's arms.

The climate in the south is an unsolved mystery. Perhaps yesterday, the clear skies required wearing short sleeves to cool off, while today, a wool sweatshirt is needed to ward off the sudden northwest wind.

In the morning, Chen Zhoumu woke up earlier than Song Shi. He looked at the person in his arms. Song Shi was sleeping soundly, his sleeping position almost unchanged, and he, perhaps because there was someone in his arms, hadn't moved much this time either.

He looked down at the still sleeping person, his gaze unconsciously tracing the other's face slowly, looking at Song Shi's eyes, nose, eyelashes, and then his gaze fell on the tightly closed lips.

Chen Zhoumu looked away, lowered his head and slowly inhaled at Song Shi's neck, then reached out to take the other's hand.

Song Shi's hand was warm from being held, finally not as cold as it had been outside.

Then he gently, yet with a slight firmness, inserted each of his fingers into the other's, their fingers intertwined.

He just stared at the other like that.

In his sleep, Song Shi felt the restraint on his hand, dreaming that he was tied up and couldn't break free.

His left fingers couldn't move at all, as if they were necrotic, but he could still feel them, feeling something real being tightly gripped by something.

He jerked his eyes open, his blurry vision slowly clearing. Accustomed to his high school dormitory, he felt a little disoriented at being in the competition class.

Then, all his senses began to awaken. The first thing he felt was the warmth behind him. Song Shi jerked back, about to kick, but found his hand tightly gripped.

He was grumpy in the morning, and being forced out of bed like this made him even more irritable. He suppressed his anger, glancing at Chen Zhoumu's leisurely gaze.

Finally, he couldn't hold back any longer, turning sharply to kick Chen Zhoumu's knee, but Chen Zhoumu's hand hit him first.

Song Shi felt a heat in his ankle; Chen Zhoumu's hand was gripping that spot. The hot-blooded young man was already extremely sensitive in the morning.

Chen Zhoumu gripped the other's foot tightly, his voice slightly hoarse: "Shizi, don't kick me."

Sensing Chen Zhoumu's change, Song Shi also felt what his bent knee had touched. He abruptly pulled his leg back: "Go wash up!"

Watching the other get up in a bit of a panic and then throw the blanket hard on himself, Chen Zhoumu laughed and covered his eyes.

It was just too cute.

Today was the first day of the competition class. The two walked from the dormitory to the teaching building. On the way, they could hear Zhang Jingxiao's voice from afar, quite loud, like she was arguing with someone.

When the two got closer, they saw Tanqi tightly hugging the other's waist, preventing her from rushing over to fight.

"What right do you have to say that? You son of a bitch! So what if he likes men? He won't like you. You're not even worthy to carry Song Shi's shoes!"

The person opposite shouted back defiantly, "Pah! I'd rather get my hands dirty carrying his shoes! You gay bastard, aren't you afraid of getting AIDS?"

"Get the hell out of here! If you dare say another word, do you believe I'll tear your mouth apart?"

"You're a disgrace to us men!! Men liking men! Disgusting!"

"Qi Zi, let me go, you bitch, I'm going to teach you a lesson today!"

The two heard these words as they approached. Before Song Shi could hear anything else, his phone vibrated. He took it out.

The message was from someone he hadn't contacted in a long time. Song Shi was stunned for a moment. The message wasn't long.

【Can we meet?】
